The Jungle's "Main Stream"

The jungle is a place full of both danger and opportunity, as it accommodates for all factions of life. 

A shapeshifter.

Deceiving and clever.
No creature is safe.

During day the naive may see the beautifully welcoming shafts of sunlight - that illuminate the soft moss and warm cool lakes - as safety and security. Little do they realise that after being warmed by such rays for too long, skin is scalded with unendurable pain. 

At night the cool breeze is soothing and calming, and ears prick to the distant, eerie howls and slithers. 

Beneath feet the ground is crawling with life, toes are gnawed and tickled by dark anonymous predators of the night.

What is a blessing, is also a curse.
What is good, is also bad.
The ying and the yang.
This is the jungle.

One must know that in order for life to subsist, water is essential.
Streams, lakes, rivers and waterfalls flow throughout the jungle - all of which vary in size, colour and taste.
Animals graze at these water spots, insects thrive and plants germinate nearby.
Sustenance and prosperity.

The most popular of water spots is the stream located in the very centre of the jungle, also known as the “main stream”. The mainstream provides for most animals, insects and plants fuelling their jungle adventures.

Locating this stream, and mingling with creatures at this stream, gives purpose to their perpetual life of eating, drinking and sleeping.

The water at the mainstream always appears crystal blue, however some animals complain that small rocks are often accidently ingested causing further complications. Although, this of course is their own fault, as the mainstream is the most "perfect" of all water spots. The taste of the water is also considered to be good - perfect for all warps of life - not that other water spots have been tasted by many.

The mainstream is comfortable and familiar, but are there other, better, streams out in the jungle?
